What personal challenges have you overcome or are working through as a result of your upbringing?
Self-esteem, Body Shaming and Weight Loss has always been a personal challenge and continues to be a struggle and a battle mentally. Growing up in an urban area, being called "fat" or "sloppy" has had a mental impact until adulthood. To overcome this problem, I lost 72 pounds in 2007 and maintained until 2016. The struggle still continues...
What inspired you to become a therapist?
The helping profession as a whole. Started in child welfare and moved to Private Practice, which has a greater impact.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Alabama and Georgia but you would never guess it because I have never been able to acquire a Southern accent
What personal challenges have you overcome or are working through as a result of your upbringing?
I am the oldest of four and I grew up in a very conservative and religious home. We lived on a compound for a bit of time that was complete with rules and regulations about what was appropriate and what was not. My family believed in a very traditional view of family and I was homeschooled until I went away to college. Being in a religiously abusive organization changed the way that I looked at the world and my journey has been one of reclaiming my voice, intentional personal growth, and health and wellness.
What inspired you to become a therapist?
I was inspired to become a therapist because I wanted to help people make meaningful connections with each other. Relationships are at the core of how we find meaning as humans and being able to successfully navigate them is a skill that is often not taught in traditional educational settings. My goal is to empower my clients to understand what is holding them back and to facilitate an environment of growth and accountability that will result in improved emotional well-being and stronger relationship connections.
What are your specialties?
My specialties are managing stress, work life balance, anxiety, depression, finding meaning, and women's issues.

What personal challenges have you overcome or are working through as a result of your upbringing?
I have been actively working on developing the healthiest relationship I can with myself over the last decade. Like many others, I've also struggled with symptoms of anxiety, sadness, adhd, and low self-esteem. I have adopted many effective strategies to lessen the impact of the emotional abuse and neglect I've experienced throughout my lifetime. I am now a more compassionate and confident woman because of the healing journey I have developed and I hope to share as much of that knowledge as I can with everyone else in my world.
What inspired you to become a therapist?
Noticing a lack of representation and access to mental health therapists in my community inspired me to become a therapist. I've always had a helping heart and I love assisting people with learning to love themselves and making positive changes in their lives.
What are your specialties?

Biography:
Hello, I’m Ebony Fowler, M.ed, LCPC and I’m very excited to meet you! I am a licensed clinical professional counselor and I am committed to assisting my clients in their pursuit of peace, clarity, and balance in their daily lives. I work with children ages 10-17; utilizing an eclectic toolkit of art and play centered strategies to assist children with learning to process and manage their emotions in a healthier manner. I also work with adults as well, assisting with common mental health struggles like depression, anxiety, ADHD, low self esteem, and other stress related ailments.
I’ve been committed to serving children and families for twelve years, in various professional positions, at schools and local nonprofit organizations. I’ve gained an invaluable amount of knowledge, since licensed, while serving as a community-based psychotherapist, a school-based therapist, a senior addictions counselor, and a counseling group facilitator.
I believe in the power of therapy and self awareness. I also believe that everyone is born with the ability to heal themselves. However, sometimes that power is hard to recognize on your own. I’m here to help you find your power again. I’ll provide you with professional insight, psychoeducation, and guidance to help you open your mind and heal your heart.
