Where did you grow up?

I was born and raised in Gainesville, FL. A small town right in between Jacksonville and Ocala.

What personal challenges have you overcome or are working through as a result of your upbringing?

Growing up, I have always dealt with issues with anxiety and acceptance. For me, the hardest thing to do has always been to relax and try not to be in control of everything. Anxiety tends to make us feel that we always have to have control, and this is something that I still work on to this very day.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

Since I was a child, I always knew that I would be a therapist or "helper" in some form. When my friends had issues, I was always their "go to" person to vent, and believe it or not, I enjoyed it. Also, seeing the way that some of my closest family members dealt with their mental health and ignored a lot of obvious issues due to stigmas surrounding mental health in the black community. I knew I wanted to pursue a passion that would allow me to be the help that I know my family members needed.

What are your specialties?

Currently, I hold a certification in child and adolescent trauma.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, or better known as Duval County. Growing up I got used to the constant violence and shootings to the point I became desensitized. I grew up in lower-income areas.

What personal challenges have you overcome or are working through as a result of your upbringing?

I overcame family dysfunction, sexual abuse, molestation, rape, and family history of mental health and substance abuse problems.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

Witnessing the generational trauma, and experiencing my own personal trauma, I often wished we had someone to talk to outside of the family. I have always been a helper. When I was in middle school, my parents had to get a second phone line because all of my friends would call me for advice even though I was the same age as them. Working in this field has motivated me to support others in understanding their mental health and substance abuse because I believe everyone can heal if they're willing to do the work.

What are your specialties?

Addiction/Alcoholism (Adult, Family members of alcoholics/addicts, Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar, Co-Dependency, PTSD, and Other Trauma, Co-Occurring Disorders, and Borderline Personality Disorder
